Kim Shin-young Shuts Down Na Honjasan Exit Rumors: 'See You Next Week'

Comedian and broadcaster Kim Shin-young posted a two-sentence rebuttal on social media on the 10th after rumors spread that she had quietly stepped back from MBC's long-running lifestyle show Na Honjasan (I Live Alone). "Nope," she wrote, sharing a link to the speculation. "See you next week without fail."

The rumors had picked up quickly after the show's official channel posted a group photo on the 9th under the caption "Different yet similar, we." The image included regular cast members Jeon Hyun-moo, Code Kunst, Kim Dae-ho, Ryu Hye-young, and Gi An-84, along with guest singer Dun, but Kim Shin-young was nowhere in the frame. On Korean entertainment social channels, an absent cast member in a promo photo can move fast from curiosity to confirmed exit within a news cycle, and this was no different.

The radio pause that started it

The context that amplified the speculation was a decision Kim Shin-young had announced on August 31st: a three-month leave from Jeonghui (MBC FM4U's Noontime Song of Hope with Kim Shin-young), a program she had hosted for 14 years. She cited the demands of running her own company, Gojingamrae, which she founded with longer-term career ambitions in mind.

"The radio airs every day, and if I'm going to run the company properly and take meetings, I can't keep to that schedule," she explained at the time. "I decided I needed to build the company into something solid, and then come back to radio without burning out."

She also mentioned wanting to attend to health and personal priorities she had postponed, though she was quick to note she was physically fine. The leave runs from September 1st through the end of November, with guest hosts covering her slot.

With that leave already in place, the missing photo read to some observers as a signal that Na Honjasan might be next. Kim Shin-young's direct response made clear it was not. The day before her rebuttal post, she had also shared a photo of herself on the show and written "Shin-young is happy," which in retrospect was probably the clearer signal that nothing had changed.

Kim Shin-young debuted in 2003 through the SBS Gag Contest and built a broad following through the sketch comedy show Gag Concert. She has been a regular presence on Na Honjasan as a member of its core cast group, known on the show as the Rainbow Members.
