UNIS Disbands September 26 Just as Their Best Chart Run Ever Hits

UNIS is calling it quits on the 26th, and the timing is genuinely rough. F&F Entertainment confirmed on the 23rd that the group's exclusive contracts expire that day, ending all official activities as a full unit. What makes this sting: their remake single Haneultang Byeoltang has been steadily climbing Melon's daily chart, posting the best numbers of the group's entire run right as the curtain comes down.

The eight-member group, Jin Hyunju, Nana, Jelly Danka, Kotoko, Bang Yunha, Elisia, Oh Yuna, and Lim Seowon, formed through the SBS audition show Universe Ticket, which wrapped in early 2024. They debuted in March of that year with their first mini-album WE UNIS, followed by tracks including Superwoman, Neo Mam Molla, and Swish. The lineup was multinational from the start, which gave the group an international fanbase that's now being left to process a fairly abrupt end.

F&F Entertainment says the label and members discussed their contracts and future plans, ultimately deciding to close out on the original agreed timeline. That's the polite version. The reality is that a group hitting its commercial stride is being wound down because a 2.5-year clock ran out.

UNIS dropped a digital single, Milky Way, on the 23rd as a final goodbye. It's the group's farewell message in song form, released the same day the disbandment was announced.

F&F Entertainment added that they would "wholeheartedly support each member as they stand at a new starting line and continue chasing their dreams in their own way." Standard agency language, but the fandom, EverAfter, isn't in the mood for corporate well-wishes right now. The reaction has been heavy with disappointment, and honestly, given where the charts are sitting this week, that's hard to argue with.
