IU Is Back: New Single Drops Today, and She Wrote Every Word

IU is releasing her new digital single I Sseolrobuteo (이 별로부터) today at 6 p.m. KST, marking her first new music in exactly one year. Her label EDAM Entertainment confirmed the release, which arrives one year after her previous single Bye, Summer dropped in September last year.

The single comes loaded as a double title track: I Sseolrobuteo and Dear My Crazy Soulmate are both lead songs, and IU wrote the lyrics to both herself. The two tracks are also pre-releases for her forthcoming sixth full-length album, which doesn't yet have a confirmed date.

A music video with a twist

The Dear My Crazy Soulmate music video goes live alongside the single at 6 p.m. today, and it's already generating its own conversation. IU appears in the video as a police officer, playing opposite actress Shim Dal-gi in what looks like a playful, character-driven visual. It's a fun departure from IU's more restrained music video aesthetics, and the pairing with Shim Dal-gi has fans particularly curious about the dynamic between the two.

Adding to the anticipation, a teaser for the video featured veteran actress Kim Young-ok, whose brief appearance caught significant attention online.

The second music video, for I Sseolrobuteo, is scheduled to drop at midnight on the 16th.
